Overseeding what is it?

Overseeding is a lawn cultivation tactic which is designed to keep a lawn thick, healthy, and lush by adding new grass seeds. The young grass plants which germinate from these seeds will compensate for the death of older plants, reducing the risk of the development of a straggly, patchy lawn. One of the best times for overseeding is in early fall, although certain warm season grass cultivars should be overseeded in the spring, and it may need to take place on an annual basis in some regions of the world.

Dethatching

Dethatching simply is the removal of the thatch layer. Thatch removal can be accomplished manually, with a de thatching rake, which can be time-consuming for any but the smallest areas of lawn, or more quickly and effectively with a gas powered power rake.

What is Aerating?

Aerating is the process of punching holes, usually (3-4 Inches deep) into your lawn to allow water, oxygen, fertilizers, and other nutrients to penetrate the soil and better reach the roots of your grass. Aerating is usually done by pushing hollow cylinders into the ground and forcing out plugs of soil to the lawn surface. Spikes are also used in aerating, but are not usually as effective. Because spikes do not remove "plugs" from the ground, they do not create holes in the soil for expansion and in some cases, weed prevention. Aerating can also help in breaking up the buildup of Thatch in your lawn.

Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding is a process for planting grass quickly and easily and is half the price of SOD. In hydroseeding, water, grass seed, fertilizer and mulch are mixed together in a large tank. A hose is then used to spray the seed mixture over the area, to be planted. The mulch helps to make the grass seed stick to the ground, retain water and stay protected from direct sunlight.
